ToloGo for Home Assistant
An unofficial, open-source Home Assistant integration that turns every ToloGo door on your account into a button for automations and HomeKit.

Overview
Our garage door is opened with ToloGo, Tolotech Oy’s app for opening doors. I wanted the door in Home Assistant so it could open automatically when I arrive by car and show up in HomeKit. Before this, I did that with a Twilio number that called the door system, at about €5 a month. This MIT-licensed integration replaced it: Home Assistant now asks ToloGo’s cloud service to open the door directly.
The longer story, from the phone-call trick through two Flutter proofs of concept, is in Integrating ToloGo with HomeKit.
This is an unofficial integration, not affiliated with or endorsed by Tolotech Oy. It uses your own ToloGo account and only opens doors you already have access to.
How it works
The integration talks to the same cloud service as the official ToloGo app.
- Setup in the UI. You add it from Home Assistant’s integrations page and sign in with your ToloGo email and password. No YAML. After sign-in, the integration keeps the access and refresh tokens; your password is never stored.
- A button per door. Every door on the account becomes a button entity, grouped into one device per ToloGo location. If you get access to a new door later, reloading the integration picks it up.
- Token refresh. Tokens refresh automatically, and parallel requests share a single refresh.
- Cooldown. Each door has a 5-second cooldown, so a double tap or an eager automation doesn’t fire a burst of open requests.
- Non-blocking presses. A press returns right away and the open request runs in the background, so the UI doesn’t wait for the cloud.
It only exposes buttons. There’s no sensor for whether a door is open or closed.
Finding the token refresh was the hard part. Proxying the official app’s traffic covered everything else, but it’s hard to time a capture for the moment the app refreshes its token. The official app is built with React Native, so I read its JavaScript bundle instead, with help from Gemini in Google’s Antigravity IDE. The blog post covers this in more detail.
Install
With HACS:
- In HACS, open the three-dot menu and choose Custom repositories.
- Add
https://github.com/JTorkk/tologo-hasswith the category Integration. - Download Tologo (that’s the integration’s name in HACS and Home Assistant) and restart Home Assistant.
- Go to Settings > Devices & services > Add integration, search for Tologo, and sign in with your ToloGo account.
Manually: download the latest release from the releases page, copy custom_components/tologo into the custom_components folder of your Home Assistant config, restart, and add the integration as in step 4.
Status
Versions 0.1.0 to 0.1.4 were all released on the evening of June 14, 2026, and 0.1.4 is the current release. It’s what opens my own garage door today: from my car-arrival automation, the iPhone Action button, and HomeKit through Home Assistant’s HomeKit Bridge.
It isn’t in the HACS default store; you install it as a custom repository. I haven’t had time to submit it there yet, and my use case is fairly niche, so I’ll do it if people ask. Bug reports and feature requests go to the GitHub issue tracker.
Tech
- Python, as a Home Assistant custom integration: config flow, config entries, button entities and per-location devices
- aiohttp through Home Assistant’s shared client session, and asyncio for the refresh lock and background presses
- voluptuous for the setup form schema
- HACS packaging, with the brand icons shipped inside the integration folder
- GitHub Actions running HACS validation on every push to main
- Postman as a proxy for capturing the official app’s traffic, and Gemini in Antigravity for going through the official app’s JavaScript to find the token refresh call
